Table Tennis
Five years after a fledgling group of enthusiasts made early steps to organize the association, the Cayman Islands can at long last welcome the Cayman Islands Table Tennis Association (CITTA) as the newest organized sport to have a presence in these fair Islands!

Starting with a core mix of various talented players in 2003, the foundational plans for the CITTA were laid. Like most everything in Grand Cayman, plans were sidelined with the distraction of having been impacted by Category 5- Hurricane Ivan. The story of restoration, resilience, rebound, and return to normalcy that was the hallmark of the miraculous recovery of the Cayman Islands extended to the CITTA as well.

The Table Tennis fans eventually found ways to get back together to play on occasion with the purchase and importation of new tables.

Once the play resumed, the conversation turned to organizing again and the ball started rolling to get the Association properly registered and recognized.

The CITTA then moved on to the next level in making a positive impact on the Cayman Islands youth and adults residing in the Islands who are interested in taking up Table Tennis as a sporting option moving forward. The Association made a donation of four first class tables to the four high schools of the former George Hicks Middle School. Additionally, the Association has two Executive Officers serving as volunteer coaches in the first ever Table Tennis After School Club at First Baptist Christian School.

MISSION STATEMENT
To encourage, promote and facilitate the development of Table Tennis in the Cayman Islands including the organization of leagues for men and women, doubles and mixed doubles; the oversight of student and youth clubs; the establishment of National Championships and the development of talent for international competitions and tournaments. The Cayman Islands Table Tennis Association will promote the Cayman Islands to overseas teams and facilitate their visits for any international tournaments and competitions hosted in Grand Cayman. It is the goal of the CITTA to emphasize development in the sport of table tennis with youth programmes and encourage school age children to take up and play Table Tennis in the Cayman Islands through the establishment of school clubs with the support and assistance of various other stakeholders in the community.
